Founded in 1977, Atlantic Telephone is a full-service provider of communications systems and services to businesses of all sizes. Our customers range in size from very small businesses requiring as few as four telephones to large enterprises with as many as 5,000 extensions.

As we enter our second quarter-century, we sell, install and service equipment from the largest names in telecommunications, such as Mitel Networks, March Networks and others.

During the early years of the company’s history, Atlantic Telephone was a provider of design, engineering, installation personnel and expertise for one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world - ITT - and later Mass Telephone and others. Along the way we installed everything from small key telephone systems to medium-capacity hybrid/PBX systems and large PBXs with many outside lines and hundreds of extensions.

Increasingly, however, we received requests from end-users who preferred to deal directly with us rather than purchasing from a “middleman”. In 1984, in response to these requests, we established a sales department and began to expand our product offerings.

July 10, 1986 was a special day for Atlantic Telephone. On that day, we acquired the Providence Branch operation of ITT Business Communications Corporation, which had served customers in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island since the 1970s.

April 1, 1992 saw the appointment of Atlantic Telephone as a Mitel Elite Value-Added Reseller. With over 1,900 dealers in the United States, Mitel has elevated only 120 to Elite Dealer Status. This distinction provides Atlantic Telephone's customers the advantage of access to exclusive systems, software, features and services not available through the traditional dealer channel.
